Youth Service Bureau
FSA and YSB Merge
Family Service Agency (FSA) and Youth Service Bureau (YSB) announced their merger effective September 1st, 2022, creating a collaborative leader in DeKalb County’s nonprofit sector. The joint company will operate under Family Service Agency of DeKalb County.
Over the years, YSB has had an increased need to meet the growing demands throughout the County. This includes a need to expand services for those who receive Medicaid benefits. During YSB’s recent exploratory stage of attaining Medicaid licensure, YSB’s Board of Directors decided what was in their client's best interest was to approach the FSA Board of Directors regarding a potential merger. The YSB Board of Directors felt FSA was the best home for the current programs. FSA is already a Medicaid provider and accepts other private/commercial insurance companies for Outpatient Mental Health Services. In addition, FSA currently provides various youth programs and houses DeKalb County’s Child Advocacy Center.
The staff at Family Service Agency is excited for YSB’s programming and team to join the FSA family as we strive to collaborate and partner with other community organizations. Our Executive Director, Tynisha Clegg, shared, “FSA has had many discussions with YSB’s Board of Directors and staff to make the transition as smooth as possible in addition to making sure the mission of YSB is fully incorporated into FSA’s programs and services. FSA looks forward to collaborating with the residents and organizations of DeKalb County to continue to build and strengthen youth services. Our youth today face much greater challenges than 30 or 40 years ago. We will work to meet the needs of youth with a particular focus on those most vulnerable and under-resourced. We are honored to have been selected by YSB’s Board as a suitable place to grow YSB’s programs and services.”
